Health Research BC Launches 2025 Scholar Competition & Health Professional-Investigator Competitions
Michael Smith Health Research BC (Health Research BC) has announced that applications are open for 2025 Scholar Competition and for the 2025 Health Professional-Investigator Competition. In the 2024 cycle, Dr. Catrina Loucks, a Member of the ATM, was a recipient. Those in the ATM community who are interested are encouraged to apply to these programs to support their research endeavours.

With Dr. Sorensen as senior author of the study in question, the team has identified a potential drug that could halt the spread of osteosarcoma. As the most common bone cancer in children and teenagers, Dr. Sorensen states “This discovery brings much needed new hope to children and youth battling osteosarcoma".

Government reiterates how the UBC-led Canada’s Immuno-Engineering and Biomanufacturing Hub (CIEBH) will keep the province at the forefront of the future of life sciences. The 3 projects receiving funding from the province include the AVENGER platform, for which Dr. Pieter Cullis and Dr. Anna Blakney are project directors.
