Regulatory agencies have indicated that a more focused review of purchasing controls / supplier management processes will be enforced in all upcoming audits and inspections of pharmaceuticals and medical device companies, and other regulated industries. Risk-based thinking should be an integral part of an effective and efficient risk-based supplier management program. The level of supplier control should be proportionate to the effect on the quality of the purchased or otherwise acquired product or services supplied to one’s organization.
