“Pfizer Canada ULC announces the launch of its Healthcare Hub, an initiative with Canadian tech and innovation startups to scale up health solutions, with the goal of enhancing outcomes and the patient experience in important areas of need in Canadian healthcare.”
The Healthcare Hub is the outcome of a partnership between Pfizer Canada and Communitech. An open call has been announced and is targeted at tech startups. The idea behind this approach is that by harnessing the innovation in the field of tech innovation, current healthcare challenges may be addressed. The 5 key challenges identified were:
- Vaccination tracking
- Drug shortage planning
- Patient drug coverage and access
- Women’s health
- Oncology diagnostics
By using promising leads in the tech industry to target major medical issues in Canada, the Healthcare Hub shows the importance of utilizing promising advancements from different fields to address the issues in medical care and provide opportunities for new approaches.
Applications for the Healthcare Hub were submitted in May 2023, and the selected entries will be announced in July 2023.
